Vitamin K2 is sometimes referred to by the name Menaquinone which has been shortened to MK in many cases. The number that comes after the MK refers to the form of Menaquinone the most common of which are MK4 and MK7. MK7 is a long chain variation of the vitamin meaning that the half life of the chemical is longer. Therefore it will affect the human body for a few days (longer than the lower MK’s). K2 can be produced internally within the body or consumed from an external source. It is found in foods like eggs yogurt and some vegetables. K2 has been know to promote healthy bones and heart health.
